SG tech startup AI Seer, Nexus to combat global misinformation
AI Seer, a Singapore-based deep-tech startup, has partnered with Nexus, a leader in cryptographic verification technologies.
This collaboration seeks to tackle the US$1.4 trillion global misinformation crisis by developing a trusted infrastructure where truth is verifiable, composable, and immutable.
AI Seer’s product, Facticity.AI, is a fact-checking engine that assesses short-form claims, long-form content, and video URLs.
It provides verdicts such as true, false, or unverifiable, along with supporting evidence and citations. Image verification features are in development.
Nexus will contribute its cryptographic technology, which includes a Layer 2 protocol for decentralized storage of fact-checks and a blockchain-based system for data verifiability.
The partnership intends to enable the use of verified information across various platforms.
AI Seer, founded in 2019, focuses on using advanced AI to combat misinformation. Nexus specializes in cryptographic solutions aimed at creating a secure internet.

🧠 Food for thought
1️⃣ Misinformation: an age-old problem with new technological solutions
Fake news isn’t a modern phenomenon but has deep historical roots dating back centuries before digital media existed.
In the 6th century, Procopius of Caesarea used misinformation to discredit Emperor Justinian, demonstrating that political manipulation through false information has ancient origins 1.
The printing press revolutionized the spread of misinformation, similar to how social media does today, with yellow journalism in the 19th century exemplifying how media sensationalism can prioritize engagement over accuracy 1.
This historical perspective situates AI Seer and Nexus’ work within humanity’s ongoing struggle with misinformation, now employing AI and cryptography instead of traditional fact-checking approaches.
The partnership represents a technological evolution in addressing a persistent societal challenge, attempting to solve with mathematics and verification what previous generations tackled through media literacy and institutional trust.
2️⃣ AI fact-checking faces significant technical limitations despite promise
