SG startup Fuku.AI unveils video interview tool “Fiona” for hiring
Fuku.AI, a Singapore-based startup providing recruitment tools for SMEs in Asia, has launched Fiona, an AI-powered video interviewer for high-volume hiring.
Fiona autonomously conducts 10-minute video interviews using an avatar, asks follow-up questions, and generates summary reports for hiring managers.
The tool is integrated with applicant tracking and HR systems, and can evaluate candidates for roles such as sales, engineering, and back-end positions.
Candidates receive transcripts and feedback explaining how their responses were assessed.
Fiona is now available globally, with the company reporting early traction among Southeast Asian SMEs.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
Consultants can package audit frameworks as Fiona enters regulated markets
- California requires employers using Automated Decision Systems (ADS) to run anti-bias tests or independent audits that are timely, repeatable, transparent 2. Employers must keep ADS records four years and preserve human oversight 2. Colorado’s AI Act effective February 2026 requires annual impact assessments and risk management policies 1.
- Only 18 of 391 employers posted required audit reports under NYC’s law 1. Auditors can fill the gap with skills in bias, disparate impact (i.e., seemingly neutral practices that disproportionately harm protected groups), plus legal context 5.
- SMEs can buy bundled compliance packages. Include contract reviews for liability allocation 6, audit trails for AI decision influence 1, plus notification steps. Illinois’ law effective January 2026 requires employee notice about AI use 1.
