SG probes 8 telemedicine firms for non-compliance

Singapore’s health ministry has been investigating eight telemedicine providers for non-compliance, according to Senior Minister of State for Health Janil Puthucheary.

The investigations were disclosed in parliament on Tuesday, although the telemedicine firms in question were not revealed.

The non-compliance issues fall into two main categories: clinical care lapses and misleading advertisements.

Clinical care lapses include situations where doctors issued prescriptions or medical certificates without proper assessments or video consultations for first-time patients.

Misleading advertisements cited the promotion of unnecessary telemedicine services.

Enforcement actions have been taken in three of these cases, including the revocation of MaNaDr Clinic’s license last month.
