Life Lab Resources, a Singapore-based company that turns commercial food waste into aquaculture feed, has raised US$1 million in a pre-series A round to expand production capacity at its circular food biorefinery in Singapore.

The round was led by Decarb123 Pte Ltd, with the group investing through DC123FW Pte Ltd.

It also included investment from Keng Eng Kee Holding Pte Ltd, and follow-on investment from AC S323 Pte Ltd, an angel syndicate led by Huang Shao-Ning.

Life Lab Resources said the added capacity will let it process more treated food substrates, produce more nutrient-rich aquaculture feed for farmers, and support more circular food products.

In Singapore, companies that manufacture feed for food-producing animals require a license, while the Singapore Food Agency sets rules for some alternative feed inputs.
