SG chip supplier UMS plans Vietnam JV for expansion

UMS Integration, a Singapore-listed precision engineering firm serving the semiconductor industry, said on June 5 that it had signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding to set up a joint venture in Vietnam.

The move is part of the company’s long-term growth plans.

The plan would restructure three Vietnam-based companies, Viet Nguyen Mechanical Precision Company Limited, Central Metal Mechanical Company Limited, and Global Metal Plating Company Limited.

UMS said it expects to invest about US$3.6 million from internal funds.

The amount remains indicative and is subject to due diligence and final agreements.

UMS is focused on semiconductor-related manufacturing, including high-precision front-end components, assembly, and testing services.

The company has invested S$120 million (US$93.5 million) of capital expenditure over the past three years.
