San Francisco-based Featherless.ai, previously known as Recursal, has raised US$5 million in seed funding to improve its serverless AI inference platform.

Investors in this funding round included Airbus Ventures, 500 Global, Kickstart Ventures, HF0, Panache Ventures, and Oakseed Ventures.

Featherless.ai specializes in providing access to over 4,000 open-source AI models. It shifted its model from an open-source AI model builder to its current form.

Its platform aims to deliver scalable and cost-efficient AI deployment solutions, using a flat capacity pricing model to enhance cost predictability.

The funding will be used to expand support for various AI modalities, including vision, speech, and embeddings.
