Sequoia leads $60m round for robot-data startup Mecka AI
Mecka AI, a robot-training data startup founded in 2024, said it raised US$60 million in a series B round led by Sequoia. Nvidia and Microsoft’s venture fund M12 also joined.
Mecka AI pays people to record themselves doing everyday tasks such as making coffee or fixing cars while wearing body sensors and using smartphones.
It then analyses the data to help train humanoid and other robots.
Other companies collecting data for robot training include XDOF. Scale AI also offers a Physical AI product.
Depending on jurisdiction and use, identifiable motion-capture or video data could be subject to biometric privacy rules. Data that cannot reasonably identify a person may fall outside some laws.
