Sequoia closes $200m seed fund, boosts Israeli focus
Sequoia Capital has closed a US$200 million seed fund, with a significant portion directed to Israeli startups, according to partner Shaun Maguire.
The firm also announced a US$750 million fund for series A investments.
Despite the ongoing conflict in Gaza, Sequoia’s investment strategy in Israel remains unchanged, with around 20% of recent seed fund capital going to Israeli companies or those with strong Israeli ties.
Recent investments include Decart, an AI startup valued at US$3.1 billion, as well as Eon, a data-backup firm, and Kela, a defense-tech company.
Maguire said Sequoia has completed three new investments in Israel, including two cybersecurity deals this year.
He noted that reduced foreign VC activity in the country has created more opportunities for active investors.
