SenseTime spins off AI healthcare firm
SenseTime has spun off a new AI healthcare company. The firm has raised US$141 million over the past six months from investors including Yingfeng Holding, People’s Medical Publishing House Technology, and Lenovo Capital.
The company is based in China and focuses on developing AI solutions for hospitals, research, and international healthcare markets.
Its technology includes a large language model called DaYi, trained on a large medical dataset and serving as the core of its platform.
The firm has launched an integrated hospital solution, SenseCare, which covers clinical care, patient services, and research support.
It offers more than 40 AI modules for clinical use and partners with hospitals and companies such as Ruijin Hospital, Roche Pharmaceuticals, and Midea Group.
It has obtained Singapore’s first AI medical-device certification, started projects in Indonesia, and is now conducting its series A funding round.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
SenseTime’s China healthcare spin-off seems to build on SenseCare in Singapore
- The AI healthcare company builds on SenseTime Healthcare’s SenseCare platform, already in use at Parkway Radiology’s Singapore network (a Singapore radiology provider) since 2024, and supports over 1,800 lung screening patients a month 1.
- The Singapore Health Sciences Authority (HSA) certification likely refers to SenseTime Healthcare’s AI-assisted chest computed tomography (CT) tool that became a registered medical device in 2022 1. This hints at bundled approvals, not an all-new system.
- US$141 million adds momentum, yet it faces DeepSeek AI, which runs in over 260 Chinese hospitals with an open-source medical large language model (LLM) 2. It also must meet China’s 2030 plan for universal AI help in primary care, with routine AI imaging plus decision support in Grade 2 or higher (mid- to large-sized) hospitals 3.
Hospital AI in 2025 needs closed-loop EHR ties and clear reimbursement
- Vendors can tap Asia/Pacific excluding Japan (APeJ) telehealth growth, with 80% of patients expected to use hybrid care by 2027 4. Aim for AI that plugs into EHR (electronic health record) platforms and telehealth. In a closed loop, outputs flow back into orders, notes and billing to complete the workflow 4.
- Investors should check the regulatory path, as Singapore’s HSA medical device registration process is clearer 5, while China’s reimbursement models remain unclear and can slow commercialization 3.
- Operators in Southeast Asia can adapt SenseTime’s work with Parkway Radiology 1. The team customized products, met rules, and refined algorithms to match local workflows 1.
