Singapore-based Sea, the consumer internet company behind ecommerce platform Shopee and gaming arm Garena, said it is working with Google through the Google AI Futures Fund to explore new AI applications across its businesses. Google will give Sea Labs access to selected frontier AI models and technical expertise.

The companies said the collaboration is the Google AI Futures Fund’s first partnership with an external AI lab. It builds on their longstanding partnership.

Sea said Sea Labs is its technology innovation and development arm. The company also runs an AI lab and has a Sea Labs unit in Indonesia.

The announcement comes as Google Cloud has launched a corridor linking Southeast Asian AI startups with Silicon Valley, signaling a broader regional push into AI.
