Saudi-backed Scopely acquires Pokémon Go maker for $3.5b

Scopely Inc., with backing from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), has agreed to acquire Niantic Inc.’s gaming division for US$3.5 billion.

This acquisition includes the popular mobile game Pokémon Go, as well as other titles like Pikmin Bloom and Monster Hunter Now, along with the teams that develop these games.

In 2023, Scopely was purchased by Savvy Games Group, a subsidiary of Saudi Arabia’s PIF, for US$4.9 billion.
