Saudi tech startup SARsatX raises $2.6m to expand satellites

SARsatX, a Saudi Arabia-based spacetech startup, has secured US$2.6 million in a seed funding round.

The investment was led by TONOMUS, a subsidiary of NEOM, with additional participation from Wa’ed Ventures, Access Bridge Ventures, and KAUST Innovation Ventures.

The company plans to use the funding to enhance its technology and increase satellite deployment. SARsatX also receives support from regional organizations such as the Saudi Space Commission and the UAE Space Agency.

Founded in 2019 as a spin-off from KAUST’s TAQADAM Accelerator, SARsatX develops small satellites equipped with Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) technology.

These satellites provide Earth observation data for various applications, including deforestation monitoring, oil leakage detection, disaster management, urban development, and border security.
