Saudi retailer Eyewa secures $100m series C

Eyewa, a retailer of eyewear in the Middle East, has closed a US$100 million series C funding round led by General Atlantic.

This brings its total funding to US$130 million since 2017.

Founded by Anass Boumediene, Mehdi Oudghiri, and Abdullah AlRugaib, Eyewa operates in five Gulf Cooperation Council markets, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

Initially an ecommerce venture, Eyewa launched physical stores in December 2020.

It now has 150 retail stores across the region, employing 1,300 people. The company aims to add 100 stores by 2025, including an expansion into Qatar.

It also plans to set up a production facility and fulfillment center in Riyadh.
