Saudi rental platform Gathern secures $72m to expand abroad

Gathern, a Saudi Arabia-based vacation rental platform, has raised US$72 million in series B funding and aims to go public in 2028, said CEO Latifah Altamimi.

The funding round, completed last month, included investments from Sanabil Investments and Saudi Technology Ventures.

Gathern plans to expand its services beyond accommodation to include car rentals, flights, and curated experiences starting next year.

The company also intends to use the new funding to begin international expansion, first targeting Kuwait and Bahrain before moving into other Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

Gathern was founded in 2016 and competes with global players like Airbnb in the Saudi alternative hospitality market.

The company started turning a profit in 2023 and saw 100% revenue growth year-on-year, but did not disclose specific financial figures.
