Saudi event booking platform aims for billion-dollar valuation

Saudi Arabia-based event booking platform webook.com has unveiled an ambitious roadmap aimed at achieving a billion-dollar valuation and a future listing on the stock exchange.

Originally launched as Halayalla, the platform rebranded to webook.com to enhance its international appeal.

It now offers services including event ticketing, flight bookings, hotel reservations, and dining options.

The platform has a user base of over 7 million across 160 countries, with access to more than 520 global events.

Webook.com has also launched operations in eight countries and plans further expansion.

The company is focusing on improving internal governance and aligning with global regulatory standards, aiming to complete the IPO in the next three to four years.

🧠 Food for thought

1️⃣ The crowded race to build “super apps” for events and entertainment

Webook.com’s strategy to expand beyond ticketing follows a broader industry pattern where specialized platforms are evolving into comprehensive entertainment ecosystems.

The event ticketing market alone hosts at least 11 major competitors in 2025, with platforms like Eventbrite, Cvent, and Ticketmaster dominating different segments of the market 1.

Many of these competitors are also expanding their services. SeatGeek evolved from a simple ticket aggregator to offering direct sales and introducing an open API for third-party integration 2.

This convergence toward “super app” models suggests that standalone ticketing platforms face sustainability challenges in a market where users increasingly prefer one-stop solutions for their entertainment needs.

The strategy mirrors successful platform expansions in other sectors, but faces unique challenges in the entertainment space where specialized providers already have established user bases and brand loyalty.

2️⃣ Strategic timing for IPO ambitions amid market turbulence

Webook.com’s 3-4 year IPO timeline comes during a period of significant uncertainty in public markets, particularly for tech companies.
