Sarvam signs AI framework with Indian defense forces

Sarvam, a Bengaluru-based AI company, has signed a five-year memorandum of understanding with India’s Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS), under the Ministry of Defence, to set up a framework for AI projects across the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.

The framework covers operational, training, and decision-support needs. It also extends to joint, tri-service, and integrated organizations under HQ IDS.

HQ IDS will facilitate the engagement, while Sarvam will develop, deploy, and support the AI applications.

Sarvam said Chanakya, its firewalled division for national security and defense projects, will carry out the work. Focus areas include target acquisition and data fusion, while humans will retain oversight of operational decisions.
