South Korea to build world’s biggest chipmaking center for $470b
Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix are among South Korean firms planning to collectively spend over US$470 billion to build the world’s largest chipmaking center. The project, involving the construction of 13 new chip plants and three research facilities, aims to achieve a monthly output of 7.7 million wafers by 2030 and enhance the country’s self-sufficiency in semiconductors.
