Samsung, SK hynix boost memory output as AI demand rises

Samsung Electronics and SK hynix are increasing memory chip production to meet rising demand from AI servers, according to industry analysts.

Both companies are expanding output of advanced memory such as high-bandwidth memory used in AI applications.

Samsung resumed construction of its Line 5 facility at the Pyeongtaek complex in November, with commercial operations planned for 2028.

SK hynix is preparing to start its new M15X fabrication plant in Cheongju to produce DRAM and other AI-focused memory.

The company is also accelerating work on the first plant at the Yongin semiconductor cluster, which industry sources say will be similar in scale to six M15X fabs.
