Samsung SDI, KG Mobility to develop EV battery pack technology

Samsung SDI has signed an agreement with KG Mobility to jointly develop new battery pack technologies for EVs.

KG Mobility is a Korean automaker.

The memorandum of understanding was signed on December 22 in Seoul.

The two companies will focus on developing battery packs using Samsung SDI’s 46-series cylindrical battery cells.

The agreement also includes plans for joint research and sharing insights on global battery market strategies.

Samsung SDI said the battery cells feature high energy density, fast charging, and improved safety, and are expected to be used in KG Mobility’s future EVs.

No timeline or financial details were disclosed.
