Samsung rises as AI chip demand boosts outlook
Samsung Electronics’ share price briefly reached 91,000 won (US$65) in premarket trading on September 22, 2025, driven by optimism around its high-bandwidth memory chips and positive analyst reports.
The South Korean chipmaker’s stock was up nearly 2% at 85,100 won (US$61) as of 2 p.m. on the Korea Exchange.
The rally followed reports that Samsung’s latest HBM3E memory chips passed Nvidia’s quality tests, raising expectations of increased orders for AI accelerators from Nvidia and AMD.
Morgan Stanley upgraded its outlook on Korean semiconductor stocks, citing a projected surge in AI demand, and raised Samsung’s target price to 96,000 won (US$68,79).
Other Korean brokerages also raised their targets, with Mirae Asset setting the highest at 111,000 won (US$79,54), as forecasts point to a sharp rise in semiconductor profits.
