Samsung ramps hiring as Texas foundry nears wafer prep
Samsung Electronics is installing and commissioning tools at its US$17 billion chip foundry in Taylor, Texas, as the build has entered a new phase.
Recent engineering and cleanroom roles ruggest Samsung is preparing for early wafer work.
Industry sources said Samsung plans to directly employ around 1,500 workers at Taylor, with major equipment vendors adding a similar number during setup.
Samsung has said the fab will target 2nm production, but job ads cite yield monitoring from 45nm to 14nm, suggesting the site’s scope may extend beyond that, and a one- to three-year tool qualification horizon.
