Samsung Q2 profit seen up 19x on AI memory demand

Samsung Electronics said on July 7 that it expects second-quarter operating profit to rise about 19x from a year earlier to 89.4 trillion won, or about US$58.4 billion, above an LSEG SmartEstimate of 87.3 trillion won (US$56.7 billion).

Revenue likely rose 129% to 171 trillion won (US$111 billion).

The South Korean company will release detailed results for each business division later in July.

For now, Samsung said AI-driven demand kept memory chip prices high, helping lift earnings.

That trend is not specific to Samsung, and the company has not yet provided a divisional breakdown for the quarter.

Samsung previously said losses in its foundry business would narrow only in the second half of 2025.

Meanwhile, Micron reported revenue growth of nearly 196% year on year, supported by strong demand for high-bandwidth memory (HBM) and server dynamic random-access memory (DRAM), signaling a broader industry upcycle.
