Samsung plans $90b in Chungcheong by 2040
Samsung announced the details at an event hosted by President Lee Jae Myung.
The spending is part of the investment plan the group unveiled earlier that week.
Samsung Display will invest 67 trillion won (US$42.9 billion) in Asan and Cheonan, where it already operates manufacturing sites.
The plan includes a next-generation display production base in Asan and an expansion of OLED, or organic light-emitting diode, displays.
Samsung Electronics plans to invest 56 trillion won (US$35.8 billion) in Onyang and Cheonan to build packaging facilities for high-bandwidth memory chips.
Samsung SDI plans to invest 9 trillion won (US$5.76 billion) in Cheonan for production and research and development of next-generation batteries.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics plans to spend 8 trillion won (US$5.12 billion) in Sejong on advanced chip packaging materials for AI servers and to develop domestic talent.
