Samsung opens ChatGPT, Claude access to more employees

Samsung Electronics said its Device Experience division, which oversees TVs, appliances, smartphones, and network equipment, will let employees use ChatGPT, Gemini Enterprise, and Claude from June 12.

The company will lift its restriction on outside generative AI services while keeping its internal Gauss platform.

The restriction was imposed in May 2023 after an engineer accidentally uploaded code to ChatGPT. The incident raised concerns that sensitive Samsung data could be stored on outside servers.

The chipmaking Device Solutions division has yet to finalise a schedule for adopting external AI services.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman will speak at Samsung’s Suwon headquarters in a session for DX employees.
