Samsung leads South Korea in economic contribution: report
Samsung Electronics ranked first in economic contribution among South Korea’s 100 largest non-financial, privately owned companies by sales in 2025. The company recorder 177.3 trillion won (US$116.67 billion) in total economic contribution last year, according to CEO Score.
CEO Score, a South Korean corporate research firm, defines economic contribution based on payments made to key stakeholders.
The survey covers the top 100 companies by sales among the 500 largest firms that filed business reports, excluding public enterprises and financial companies.
Samsung’s total rose 12.5% from a year earlier after it also led the 2024 list at 157.5 trillion won (US$104 billion). Hyundai Motor Co. ranked second this year at 122.2 trillion won (US$80.7 billion).
Samsung also led the list in shareholder returns with 14.2 trillion won (US$9.35 billion). It was the only company in the top 100 to exceed 10 trillion won (US$6.6 billion) in shareholder returns.
