Samsung leads global memory sales as SK hynix tops AI chips
Counterpoint Research said Samsung Electronics led global DRAM and NAND revenue in the first quarter, while SK Hynix remained the top supplier of high-bandwidth memory.
Samsung held 38% of DRAM revenue, ahead of SK hynix’s 29% and Micron’s 22%.
In HBM, SK hynix had 58%, while Samsung and Micron each had 21%. In NAND, Samsung led with 29%, ahead of SK hynix’s 18%.
China-based flash memory maker Yangtze Memory Technologies, or YMTC, climbed to 13% from 8%.
Counterpoint said the DRAM market grew 80% quarter on quarter and 260% year on year in the first quarter.
The research firm said the NAND market grew 90% quarter on quarter, helped by higher prices, AI server demand, and a stronger product mix as suppliers shifted capacity toward HBM, DDR5, and enterprise storage.
