Samsung leads as global smartphone shipments rise 2.6% in Q3

Global smartphone shipments rose 2.6% to 322.7 million units in Q3 2025, according to preliminary data from IDC.

The growth was driven by demand for premium and AI-enabled smartphones, despite ongoing economic and tariff challenges.

Samsung remained the top vendor with 61.4 million units shipped, achieving its strongest September-quarter growth to date.

Apple followed with 58.6 million units, its highest-ever quarterly shipments.

IDC noted strong pre-orders for the iPhone 17 lineup and rising interest in Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 models, expecting continued growth through 2025 fueled by promotions, AI features, and new device innovations.
