Samsung Electronics is launching a new division to promote the creation of new businesses. The move comes amid increasing competition from Chinese rivals in the smartphone, appliance, and display segments.

The new division will be headed by Jun Young-hyun, vice chairman of Samsung SDI, the firm’s battery manufacturing unit.
