Over five years’ time, Samsung Electronics will invest about US$280 million in a Japanese facility for advanced chip packaging research, strengthening the firm’s leadership position in the sector.

Japan’s industry ministry had said it would give Samsung subsidies to support the country’s chip manufacturing capabilities.
