Samsung HBM4 revenue exceeds $1b: sources
Samsung Electronics has generated more than US$1 billion in sales from its sixth-generation high-bandwidth memory, or HBM4, chips as of June 23, according to industry sources.
Samsung began mass production and shipments in February. HBM4 revenue could exceed US$1.2 billion by the end of June.
Higher shipments give Samsung momentum in a market where rival SK hynix held 62% of the HBM market in the second quarter of 2025, ahead of Micron at 21% and Samsung at 17%, according to Counterpoint Research.
HBM4 is expected to be the main AI memory used in Nvidia’s Vera Rubin architecture.
Stronger HBM sales have already lifted margins in Samsung’s chip business as demand for AI servers rises.
US export controls introduced in December 2024 also bar exports of advanced HBM, including HBM3E and HBM4, to China, which could affect future demand.
