Samsung grants $233m in shares to executives

Samsung Electronics said on July 13 it will dispose of 1,132,477 treasury shares worth 322.8 billion won (US$233 million) to 928 executives as part of long-term incentive compensation.

The disposal price was 285,000 won (US$190) per share, based on the July 10 closing price.

That implies an average award of about 347.8 million won (US$230,000) per executive, though individual payouts vary by performance.

Samsung expect the disposal to have minimal dilution.

Samsung said its long-term incentive program evaluates executives who have served for at least three years based on their performance over the previous three years. Payments are then distributed annually over the following three years.

Depending on performance, payouts can reach up to 300% of an executive’s average annual salary, with part paid in treasury shares rather than cash.
