Samsung Electro-Mechanics AI deals hit $2.6b
Samsung Electro-Mechanics, a South Korean electronic components maker affiliated with Samsung Electronics, said its disclosed long-term AI component contracts this year reached about 3.6 trillion won, or roughly US$2.6 billion, as customers secure supply for servers to be built in 2027 and beyond.
Its latest agreement covers about 290 billion won (US$215 million) of multilayer ceramic capacitors, or MLCCs, and inductors for an unnamed global buyer throughout 2027.
Earlier deals included a 1.6 trillion won (US$1.15 billion) silicon capacitor contract signed in May and a 454 billion won (US$336 million) MLCC agreement in June.
The company announced on September 1 its largest-ever MLCC contract, worth 1.1 trillion won (US$792 million), also for 2027 delivery.
In AI servers, MLCCs provide much of the capacitance needed to stabilise multiple power rails. Silicon capacitors suppress high-frequency noise near processors.
Those roles are prompting server builders to lock in supply years ahead; some AI graphics processing unit boards use thousands of MLCCs.
