Samsung backs Dutch AI chip startup Euclyd in $231m round

Samsung joined Somerset Capital Partners, the Scaleup Europe Fund managed by EQT, and Innovation Industries in a US$231 million series A round for Euclyd, a Netherlands-based startup founded in 2024 that is developing AI chips for inference as interest grows in alternatives to Nvidia.

Euclyd is building a processor and memory architecture that differs from graphics processing units for AI inference.

The design has been described as a multi-chiplet system with custom memory and a large system-in-package that targets inference in data centers rather than AI training.

Euclyd has also announced work with ADTechnology to develop chip hardware for data centers. The startup also plans to sell hardware and rack systems to enterprise customers and license its intellectual property.

The company’s technology has not yet been proven in large commercial deployments.

Euclyd aims to begin rolling out physical chip systems in 2028, as European chip startups draw VC backing amid rising demand for AI accelerators.
