Samsung-backed Israeli gaming firm Ludeo lays off half of staff
Ludeo, a gaming startup based in Israel, is laying off about half of its 50 employees as it shifts strategy in response to changes in the industry.
Most of the affected staff are based in Israel.
Founded in 2022 by brothers Asaf and Omri Gazit, Ludeo lets users share and replay game highlights without downloading the full game.
The company has raised US$42 million from investors including Corner Ventures, LG Ventures, Samsung, AnD Ventures, Stardom Ventures, and Playtika.
Ludeo operates offices in Tel Aviv, the US, and Europe.
The layoffs are part of a broader reorganization prompted by advances in AI within the gaming sector.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
• Ludeo raised $42 million and announced partnerships with Relic Entertainment, Bloober Team, and Starbreeze Studios. Public sources lack user counts, revenue, or broad adoption data. One case study lists Lost Castle at 470 average concurrent viewers with a 10% conversion rate.
• The company touts live playable moments with Relic and Bloober plus Starbreeze. It also put out first Ludeos tied to Cronos. There is no public evidence of wide rollout. The Software Development Kit (SDK) works with multiple engines, with integrations that take 6–8 weeks. Ludeo cut about half the staff roughly three years after founding, blaming AI-driven shifts.
• Instant-playable highlights let people jump into short recorded segments without a full install. The concept mirrors older instant-play ideas, so tech novelty may not secure product-market fit.
• Recent layoffs release engineers skilled in cloud gaming, real-time video compression, and cross-platform SDK integration across engines. Many know how to cut latency in interactive streaming. These skills fit game streaming firms, interactive content platforms, or user-generated content tools.
• Some team members list patents on real-time spectator input, dynamic music tied to gameplay, plus device-aware streaming with transactions. These patents cover interactive media sync plus adaptive streaming.
• Hiring teams at gaming tech or edtech with interactive simulations or social platforms testing playable formats can scan LinkedIn posts from laid-off staff in Israel. Look for candidates in the US and Europe for fast outreach.
