Salesforce to hire 1,000 graduates, interns for AI
Salesforce will hire 1,000 graduates and interns to work on AI products such as Agentforce and Headless360 as the company expands its AI software business, CEO Marc Benioff said on X.
The move follows reports in February that Salesforce cut fewer than 1,000 roles across marketing, product, data analytics, and its Agentforce team.
Salesforce also expects fiscal 2026 revenue in the range of US$41.45 billion to US$41.55 billion, compared with its prior forecast of between US$41.1 billion and US$41.3 billion.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
Salesforce ties AI hiring to a planned workforce shift
- Salesforce says it is redesigning its workforce for an AI-focused business, not cutting it outright 1.
- It has moved hundreds of employees from jobs that AI now handles faster into roles such as AI deployment strategists, who help customers use AI tools, plus professional services jobs where the company is adding thousands of roles 1.
- Customer support got smaller through attrition and redeployment after AI agents handled 2.6 million conversations. Other teams have added staff 1.
- February layoffs came with a leadership shuffle meant to bring Agentforce closer to Slack, Salesforce’s workplace messaging and collaboration platform, under Joe Inzerillo 2.
Salesforce gets efficiency from AI now and looks for growth later
- The first wave of AI use cut costs. Salesforce says AI agents in customer support delivered US$100 million in yearly savings 3.
- The next step aims at sales. AI agents now reach dormant, low-priority leads that human sales teams could not afford to chase 3.
- Agentforce has grown fast. Annual recurring revenue, a software metric that tracks subscription revenue expected to repeat each year, rose 330% to US$500 million, though that has not yet lifted companywide growth much 4.
- Total revenue is still expected to grow 9% to 10%. AI adds a strong new business line, though it is not yet large enough to change Salesforce’s overall path 4.
