Salesforce to acquire marketing software firm for $5.6b

Salesforce said it has agreed to buy Braze, a US-based customer engagement software company, for about US$5.66 billion. Holders of Braze Class A common stock will receive US$47.50 in cash per share.

The deal is expected to close in Salesforce’s fiscal 2028, subject to shareholder and regulatory approvals.

Braze, which Salesforce describes as a customer engagement platform, saw its shares jump more than 51% on October 20 to close at US$45.57.

The acquisition would add Braze’s software for customer data, messaging, and marketing automation to Salesforce’s existing marketing and customer experience tools.

The deal follows Salesforce’s earlier agreement to buy AI customer service platform Fin for about US$3.6 billion. It also follows an expanded partnership with Anthropic announced in August.
