S Korea plans $1.6b AI push across public sector in 2026

South Korea’s government plans to allocate 2.4 trillion won (US$1.67 billion) in 2026 to support AI transformation across public sectors.

The funds will be distributed to 33 government agencies, with a focus on establishing a cross-government AI collaboration framework that provides GPUs, AI models, data, and consulting services.

This budget represents a fivefold increase compared to last year.
