US robotics startup MicroFactory raises $1.5m pre-seed round

MicroFactory, a robotics startup based in San Francisco, has raised US$1.5 million in pre-seed funding to develop its compact manufacturing kit.

The company builds tabletop factory units with two robotic arms that can be trained by human demonstration and AI, designed for tasks such as circuit board assembly and cable routing.

MicroFactory’s system is enclosed and transparent, allowing users to observe the robots as they work.

The startup was founded in 2024 by Igor Kulakov and Viktor Petrenko, who previously ran a portable lighting equipment manufacturing business.

Investors in the round include executives from AI firm Hugging Face and entrepreneur Naval Ravikant, with the valuation set at US$30 million post-money.

MicroFactory plans to use the funding to commercialize its prototype, ship units within two months, and expand its team.
