Roblox to review age ratings in Indonesia after ban warning
Roblox has expressed willingness to review its game content age classifications with Indonesia’s Game Rating System (IGRS) after the government signaled a possible ban over violent content.
The US-based gaming platform is ready to collaborate with IGRS and adjust classifications if needed, according to a letter sent to Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Digital.
Indonesia’s government said it may block platforms, including Roblox, if evidence shows violent content negatively affects children and teens.
Minister Meutya Hafid met Roblox Asia-Pacific representatives in August to discuss concerns, and requested the company follow local content regulations and consider opening a local office.
Roblox is integrating with the International Age Rating Coalition (IARC) to provide country-specific content ratings, including IGRS in Indonesia.
Authorities said the review is part of wider efforts to ensure digital platforms comply with child protection rules and provide a safe online space for young users.
