Roblox said on June 17 it launched Roblox Kids and Roblox Select accounts globally, including in Southeast Asia. The new account tiers are based on age groups. They determine content access, chat settings, and parental controls.

Roblox Kids is for users aged five to eight and has chat disabled by default. Roblox Select is for users aged nine to 15 and gradually expands access as users get older.

Roblox said parents can manage a child’s friend list, approve Trusted Friend requests. They can also set screen-time and spending limits, and adjust chat and game access until the child turns 16.

Users aged 16 and older must complete an age check through ID verification or facial age estimation to access the full platform.

Roblox also said social media links are restricted across the platform to users aged 16 and older who have completed age checks.
