Robinhood has announced its plan to acquire Canadian cryptocurrency firm WonderFi in an all-cash deal valued at C$250 million (US$178.98 million).

The acquisition prices WonderFi shares at 36 Canadian cents (US$0.74) each, representing a 41% premium over the previous closing price.

This acquisition aligns with Robinhood’s strategy to expand its international presence and enhance its cryptocurrency services.

As part of the deal, WonderFi’s workforce will integrate with Robinhood, which currently employs more than 140 staff in Canada.

The acquisition follows Robinhood’s previous purchase of a crypto exchange for US$200 million last year.
