Robinhood Q4 revenue misses estimates at $1.3b
Robinhood reported a fourth-quarter revenue of US$1.3 billion, below analysts’ estimate of US$1.3 billion, due to weaker cryptocurrency trading performance.
The company’s cryptocurrency trading revenue was US$221 million, short of the expected US$248 million, amid ongoing sector volatility following last October’s bitcoin crash.
Robinhood’s transaction-based revenue increased by 15% to US$776 million, driven by a 54% rise in equities and a 41% increase in options trading.
The firm’s active traders, primarily lower-tier customers, remained engaged despite lower rebate rates.
Robinhood’s net profit was 66 cents per share, exceeding Wall Street forecasts of 63 cents.
Shares fell 6.3% in after-hours trading following the earnings release.
