Rivian to cut less than 2% of workforce in restructure
Rivian, a US electric-vehicle maker, said on June 16 that it was cutting less than 2% of its workforce, mainly in service and customer-facing roles including sales and marketing, as it restructured some teams to support profitable growth.
The company had 15,232 employees at the end of December. The move follows an October layoff of more than 600 workers, or 4.5% of its workforce, which Rivian linked to efforts to improve profitability ahead of the R2 launch.
Rivian said it no longer expected to be positive on adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization in 2027 because of higher research and development spending tied to its accelerated autonomous-driving roadmap.
Its investor page said the company had begun deliveries of the R2 to public customers.
