Coupang’s July payment volume drops 10.9%: report
Coupang, a South Korea-based ecommerce company, saw its estimated July credit and debit card payment volume fell 10.9% from June to 4.3 trillion won (US$3.01 billion), according to IGAWorks’ Mobile Index.
IGAWorks said the decline likely reflected a high base in May and June, as well as summer demand shifting to offline categories such as travel and dining.
Gmarket, a South Korea-based ecommerce marketplace, saw its estimated July payment volume fall 1.9% to 278.4 billion won (US$195 million).
11st, a South Korea-based ecommerce platform, rose 1.3% to 274.4 billion won (US$192 million), extending its increase to a third straight month since April.
Even after the drop, Coupang’s July payment volume was about 7.8x the combined total of Gmarket and 11st.
IGAWorks said the figures are estimates based on credit and debit card transactions rather than actual sales.
Separately, Coupang reported 8% growth in first-quarter 2026 revenue to US$8.504 billion, while Product Commerce active customers reached 23.9 million.
