Renault-backed BeyonCa launches first car built in Hong Kong
BeyonCa, a Chinese EV startup, is preparing to reveal its first production car, the Grand Tourer, by the end of October, according to sources familiar with the matter.
The Grand Tourer, designed for high-speed and long-distance driving, will be assembled at the Tai Po manufacturing site within Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks.
If production proceeds, this would mark the first car manufactured locally in Hong Kong.
The company, founded in 2021 by Soh Weiming, a former Volkswagen China executive, has not confirmed a production timeline as preparations are still underway.
Sources said the vehicle will target buyers in Europe and the Middle East, and is expected to start at around US$100,000, comparable to BMW’s 7-series, and Mercedes-Benz’s S-class.
BeyonCa is backed by Renault and aims to position itself as a global luxury EV brand with a Hong Kong identity.
Both BeyonCa and HKSTP declined to comment.
