Reliance Industries uses AI across media, entertainment unit
Reliance Industries, the Indian conglomerate led by Mukesh Ambani, said in its FY26 annual report that it is using AI across its media and entertainment business
The technology supports content creation, personalisation, audience engagement, and the development of new revenue models.
The segment, which includes JioStar, Jio Studios, and Network18, reported revenue from operations of 349.2 billion rupees (US$3.65 billion) in FY26, up from 177.6 billion rupees (US$1.86 billion) a year earlier.
Reliance did not provide a like-for-like breakdown showing how much of the increase came from consolidation after the Disney-Star India and Viacom18 combination vs. underlying growth.
JioStar was created after Reliance and Walt Disney combined the businesses of Viacom18 and Star India in a joint venture controlled by Reliance.
Reliance said JioStar averaged 451 million monthly active users on its over-the-top (OTT) platforms and held a 48% share of India’s Hindi pay general entertainment channels.
The company also said JioStar reached 1 billion screens across more than 250 days of live sports in India.
