Reddit is exploring the use of iris-scanning technology developed by World, a digital identity project co-founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.

According to a report by Semafor, the platform may adopt this technology to verify user identity while maintaining anonymity.

World, formerly Worldcoin, provides “World IDs” by scanning users’ irises to create a unique digital identifier.

Users who register receive cryptocurrency rewards in WLD tokens.

Despite global criticism, the project continues to expand.

In April, World launched in the US and partnered with Match Group, owner of Tinder.
