Red Hat opens Asia Pacific AI hub in Singapore
Red Hat, a US enterprise open-source software company, opened its Asia Pacific AI Centre of Excellence in Singapore on October 22, with support from the Singapore Economic Development Board.
The center aims to help organizations move AI projects from testing to production.
The center’s engineers will build reusable software architectures and contribute code to upstream open-source projects.
It will also support skills development in software engineering and cloud-native development.
These efforts support Red Hat’s hybrid-cloud AI approach.
Singapore’s Defence Science and Technology Agency, a government agency that provides engineering and technology for national defense, is collaborating with Red Hat to explore and co-develop AI and cloud-native solutions for defense applications.
The two organizations will also establish development, security, and operations (DevSecOps), and ongoing operational practices across on-premises and off-premises environments.
The center supports Singapore’s National AI Strategy, which aims to scale deployment in the public and private sectors.
Separately, Singapore government cloud systems must meet mandatory requirements on security and governance.
