Razer unveils AI center in Singapore, plans to hire 150

Gaming lifestyle brand Razer has announced the launch of an AI center of excellence in Singapore as part of its global strategy to develop AI tools for gaming.

The United States-based gaming company plans to establish similar AI hubs in Europe and the US.

The new center, supported by Digital Industry Singapore, will focus on AI research, talent development, and creating tools for game developers.

Razer also aims to hire 150 AI specialists in Singapore, covering roles in engineering, data science, and game development.

Among the technologies under development is Razer Game Co-AI, an AI tool that provides real-time coaching for players, and QA Co-AI, which automates game testing and is currently in beta testing.

Razer said QA Co-AI could reduce quality assurance times by up to 50%.

The company plans to launch these AI products globally, including through the AWS Marketplace.

🧠 Food for thought

1️⃣ Gaming companies are racing to capture a rapidly expanding AI market opportunity

Razer’s timing aligns with explosive growth projections for AI in gaming, as the global AI game development market is expected to surge from $2.6 billion in 2025 to $25.3 billion by 2034, representing a 28.8% compound annual growth rate 1.

This expansion reflects broader industry momentum, with AI gaming specifically projected to reach $28 billion while growing at 28.4% annually, as mentioned in Razer’s announcement.

The market dynamics create a compelling case for establishing dedicated AI centers, particularly as major gaming companies like Activision Blizzard and Ubisoft are already integrating AI tools into their development processes 2.

Singapore’s selection as Razer’s first AI hub makes strategic sense given that the Asia Pacific region is expected to dominate the global AI gaming market with a 45.3% share in 2025 1.

The 150 AI engineering roles Razer plans to hire in Singapore also reflect broader industry demand for specialized talent, even as the gaming sector simultaneously faces challenges with over 21,500 layoffs in 2023 due to AI automation 2.
