Razer has acquired substantially all the assets used to operate StreamElements, an Israeli-founded livestreaming software platform, after the startup sought a buyer following layoffs and financial strain.

Terms were not disclosed, but the price is believed to be well below the roughly US$111 million StreamElements had raised, including a US$100 million 2021 funding round led by SoftBank Vision Fund 2.

Razer said the purchase from former holding company Live Momentum Ltd. covers StreamElements’ intellectual property, platform data, know-how, and business records.

StreamElements will continue operating with the same team and free tools.

Razer also said part of the purchase price was set aside for payments owed to creators before the deal closed, while Live Momentum remains liable for pre-closing debts.

The sale follows multiple layoff rounds over a seven-month span and efforts to find a buyer to avoid a shutdown.

StreamElements previously said it supported 23 million creators and offered tools to manage overlays, alerts, monetization, and live production workflows.
